Simplified Shopify Review

Simplified Shopify Review

Dropshipping is a very lucrative business model, and Shopify is the preferred platform for a lot of businesses. Even large notable companies such as Nestle, Pepsi, and Budweiser choose the platform for their eCommerce needs. Today, we’ll be looking at a new Shopify dropshipping program by YouTuber Scott Hilse. Simplified Shopify is a course that guarantees to help you make thousands from your dropshipping business. Is this true? Or is this just another low-quality dropshipping business? Keep reading to find out!

What is the Simplified Shopify program?

Simplified Shopify is a $297 program with a total of 28 lessons with downloadable videos. The name ‘simplified’ is because Scott teaches about building a single product Shopify store. Scott claims that by following this program, you will learn how to earn big profits as he did. As good as that sounds, he does use the usual boasting or bragging method where he shares screenshots of his earnings, etc. All he talks about is making money, which is a good motivator. However, I don’t think it describes building a dropshipping business as it takes hard work, and he doesn’t talk about the costs that you will encounter.

Who is Scott Hilse?

Scott Hilse is the creator of Simplified Shopify. At 22 years old, the young lad from St. Louis, Missouri, claims to be a successful dropshipping entrepreneur. From what I can see on his YouTube channel with 38,000 subscribers (yes, very impressive for a 22-year-old), Scott does know what he’s talking about. However, after going through his course, I do get a feeling like he’s just trying to make money by selling digital products. I got this feeling after seeing his marketing tactics, and finding out the course isn’t complete.

Who is the Simplified Shopify course For?

The Simplified Shopify program claims to be suitable for beginners who want to start a dropshipping business. After going through the whole program, I realized that the information has some holes. What I mean is that Scott seems to skip a lot of things, and the course wasn’t well put together. Instead, he spends a lot of time explaining basic things that you can find online for free. If you don’t believe me, try typing in ‘Shopify’ or ‘Shopify dropshipping,’ and you can find lots of free videos on YouTube.

What is included in the Simplified Shopify course?

Scott Hilse is an excellent presenter as I know him from his YouTube channel, where he presents with real charisma and clarity. As you go to the member’s area, you will see 26 videos with different lengths and even some complimentary slides. Both the videos and slides can be downloaded for you to study them offline.

In the first video, you get to see Scott’s store in full (most courses blank out the details to keep anonymity, but Scott doesn’t seem to mind sharing his secrets). You can find his store at, which will redirect you to Here is where you can see the phone case he keeps mentioning that is how Scott found his success. There’s nothing special about the phone case as its just $10 with $4 worldwide shipping. I find the video quite misleading as the title is $1,600. I don’t happen to see this figure anywhere on his stats. The most I saw was $450 per day, and that was back in 2017.

Moving on, Scott introduces a premium theme that you can use for your store, but I have used it before, and I wouldn’t recommend it. Next, you will learn how to set up the backend of your store, and he even talks about other useful Shopify information. This information includes administrative tasks and refund policies, etc., perfect for beginners. Then, there is a video on connecting to your domain.

Next, we move on to Facebook ads. Scott talks about setting up a Facebook page and business ad account and installing pixel. These are necessary information, and Scott explained them thoroughly. Then, you will learn Scott’s best strategy for product research using the usual Facebook search. Continuing on the topic of Facebook, he will teach you about importing and testing products with FB Pixel.

The freedom funnel is a method of installing free apps that will increase your store’s conversion and optimization. Usually, a premium theme would have all these extras, and you won’t have to download them yourself. The next video was a little unnecessary as he talks about getting free Facebook likes.

Facebook ad campaigns are a great way to boost traffic and get high quality leads. Scott talks about this in this next section as he shares tips and things to look out for to maximize profits. There is also a tutorial on creating video advertisements.

Scott also includes a different but relevant topic – when to form an LLC.

The next video was a little sketchy as he shows how to get more orders with Facebook ads. The reason this is sketchy is that we’ve already seen that he has never hit the $1,600 mark. The last few videos talk about outsourcing, manual bidding, ways to get free traffic, converting to a niche store, when to sell your store, and other valuable videos.

Facebook Mastermind

Facebook mastermind groups are very common for dropshipping courses to offer more support to members. Simplified Shopify’s mastermind group isn’t a large community, but as more people sign up to the course, I’m quite optimistic that it will grow. I don’t particularly appreciate signing up for these groups, but if you are a beginner, you will profit from the course. Nevertheless, it is still to early to tell if the community will increase. You won’t get any help if it is just three members who are also beginners.

Simplified Shopify Final Verdict

I initially had high hopes for the course as Scott’s YouTube videos are very informative and fun to watch. Therefore, I expected the same or even better for a paid course. Nevertheless, as I reach the end of the course, my suspicions are realised as the course seems to be incomplete. Like quite a few YouTubers out there, they come up with low-cost digital products for sale to make money fast. You can argue that the course is priced reasonably for the material but I’ve just seen better courses with even better price points. As a former dropshipping newbie, I didn’t have much budget to splurge on a dropshipping program although I know I should invest in my learning development. Since this course is for newbies, I’d assume you would be on the same boat as I was. I’d advise you to spend your money wisely as you might need to invest even more in other more important aspects like paid advertisements. What I’m trying to say is that by signing up to this course, the information you get will not be enough. You will need to search for more answers yourself and this might mean spending more money.

Simplified Shopify Alternative

I have gone through a lot of these dropshipping guru courses and personally, a lot of them are overpriced courses with very little information. They always try to sell you the dream or the lifestyle rather than actually selling you information. Dropshipping is not an overnight get rich quick scheme but, a lot of these gurus make it out like that. That’s why they ask for ridiculous prices for their courses. So, I personally get why you’d not trust in these courses.

Now, I still recommend a course if your either beginner or intermediate at dropshipping because it can save you a lot of money by optimizing ads and saving you lots of time. My personal favorite and favorite among many others is a course called eCom Elites by Franklin Hatchett. Now, the reason why I love this course because it’s one of the most affordable dropshipping courses out there and it has literally over 150+ videos. Franklin’s been doing dropshipping for many many years even before it was made famous by a lot of the gurus.

Make sure you read my eCom Elites Review to see how much information Franklin packed in this course and offers it at such a low price.
