Shopify Freedom aims to be your dropshipping guide to success. To find out if this is true, this review will serve as a guide for you to make a well-informed decision.
What is Shopify Freedom?
Shopify Freedom can be found on the Teachable platform, which is an excellent platform for most dropshipping courses due to its intuitive user interface.
Who is Dan Vas?
Dan Vas claims to be an eCommerce guru, especially in the affiliate marketing business. According to his biography on YouTube, he is a 22-year-old University dropout. According to him, he uses innovative methods for his business to succeed. His story is your usual story, where he hated corporate life and wanted to be his boss and succeeded. His YouTube channel is impressive, as he has over 60,000 subscribers, and this guy only talks about all thing eCommerce! You also get the occasional motivational video. Dan also currently runs a podcast titled ‘The Dan Vas Show,’ and you can listen to it via iTunes or Spotify. He is also pretty active on social media as he regularly uses them to promote his courses.
Who is Shopify Freedom For?
Shopify Freedom is for anyone who is sick of the corporate life or working under ‘the man’, and thinks they have what it takes to run an online business. The dropshipping company is not for the weak-hearted, and whoever wants to do the business should have a healthy mindset going in. Determination to work hard is a must. So, if you think you have all this, then this course can be your stepping stone into the business.
What is included in Shopify Freedom?
Module 1 – Starting A Shopify Store
The module begins with an overview of the Shopify dropshipping business model. This is good as Dan sets the tone for the rest of the program.
Module 2 – Mindset
Mindset modules are the worst, in my opinion, as I feel they could be unnecessary fillers for these course creators to make the course seem worth the high price. This section could also be easily included (briefly) in the first module. Dan talks about having the right mindset or ‘manipulating’ your mind so that you understand the training. All this seems very mundane because if you are already paying so much for a course, I think it is safe to say you are already taking the business seriously. This module even comes with some downloadable material and book recommendations of ‘how to shape your mind to be ready for the business.’
Module 3 – Product Research Strategies
Finally, we come to a useful topic, which is product research. Research is vital in finding the right and profitable products to sell in your store. There are many aspects to consider, for example, what is trending in the market, are there any strong competitors, etc. Dan takes you on a journey of finding winning products to sell, and he also discusses getting an official license to promote your products. Dan even includes methods of using Shopify and Amazon platforms to find these winning products. One of the best and easiest ways is by searching for successful stores and analyzing them to get ideas for your store. Dan also teaches you to validate products and shares some examples of his other ventures and how he excels in each of them.
Module 4 – Finding Suppliers
Now that you know what products you want to sell, it is time to search for reliable suppliers. In a dropshipping business, your suppliers are the ones handling logistics and fulfillment. What this means is that you will advertise their products in your store. And when someone places an order, you will convey the request to the supplier, and the supplier packages and sends the product after payment is received. As you can imagine, a massive part of your business will rely on your suppliers, so choosing the right ones to work with is crucial. There is also a matter of getting the supplier with the best prices. You want to get your products at the lowest costs so that you can have better margins, which means more profits for your business. Dan guides you through all this and includes pricing strategies. Following all this, there is also a subtopic on building a brand personality. With this comes creating a logo, which Dan teaches you to do for free. Then, Dan also guides you through testing products before shipping to customers, and also the best negotiation tactics when dealing with suppliers.
Module 5 – Building Your Store
Now that you have products, a reliable supplier, and a logo and brand identity, it is time to put your store together. Dan goes through establishing your brand name and incorporating it into your store. You will learn to build a store and include premium pictures so that they look more intriguing for customers. You will also learn to set shipping rates and other operational aspects of your store. For example, you will also learn to set up automated email responses for deserted carts using SMS.
Module 6 – Everything You Need To Know
This extensive module consisting of 19 videos include a mish-mash of everything related to dropshipping in terms of marketing strategies. In my opinion, I much rather have dedicated modules to specific topics, especially when it comes to marketing strategies.
Module 7 – Scaling
Module 7 seems somewhat a continuation of the previous module. This part is suitable for those who are increasingly seeing success in their business. You will learn how to scale your business using various strategies such as the 20% duplication strategy, the carpet bomb scaling strategy, etc. Dan brings up this topic of scaling, but he does not elaborate much on HOW you can do this successfully.
Module 8 – Influencer Marketing and Ad Secrets
This module will take you through setting up vital social media accounts and looking for the best influencers for your product. Although this is an important topic, Dan does not provide much follow up after he introduces the topic. I find this problem similar to his other topics. His most extensive discussion for marketing strategy was for Facebook Ads. And although that is an essential strategy, it is not enough for your store to succeed.
Module 9 – Using Micro-influencers
There is also a small section on using micro-influencers, an inexpensive marketing idea.
Shopify Freedom Final Verdict
At the end of this program, you will have an up and running Shopify store. If that is your goal for signing up for the course, then you will find that it is worth your while. However, if you are looking for more than that, such as methods on building a successful store, the material offered in this program is not sufficient.
Dan only preaches using Facebook Ads as a marketing tool. Although this is very useful for beginners, for you to go the extra mile, you need more marketing strategies than just using Facebook ads. Therefore, comparing the price and the course material, I will not recommend this course to anyone, as I know that there are better courses out there.
I have gone through a lot of these dropshipping guru courses and personally, a lot of them are overpriced courses with very little information. They always try to sell you the dream or the lifestyle rather than actually selling you information. Dropshipping is not an overnight get-rich-quick scheme but, a lot of these gurus make it out like that. That’s why they ask for ridiculous prices for their courses. So, I personally get why you’d not trust these courses.
I have reviewed over 50+ dropshipping and eCommerce courses on my blog and by far the best course I recommend for any beginner or intermediate dropshipper is eCom Elites by Franklin Hatchett. Now, the reason why I love this course is that it’s one of the most affordable dropshipping courses out there and it has literally over 150+ videos. Franklin’s been doing dropshipping for many many years even before it was made famous by a lot of the gurus.
Now if you are still wondering whether you should try it out or not, you should read my eCom Elites Review to make an informed decision on whether or not you should get it or not.
