Another day, another e-commerce dropshipping course review. Today, we are looking at “Freedom with eCom” by Tremayne Turner. Like most, Turner also promises that you will be able to quit your 9-to-5 and travel the world while making money on Shopify. The course greets you with the lines of “Discover how thousand are traveling the world & making a full-time income with my approach! A few spots have opened up.” Sounds promising, but let us be honest, we have heard the same thing from every single dropshipping course out there.
We had a closer look at Turner’s course, which allegedly got reduced from $997 to $297 (but let’s be honest, that is probably just a marketing trick) so that you know whether it is worth spending your hard-earned money on.
What is Freedom With eCom?
Freedom with eCom is another drop-shipping course promising financial independence and incredible riches in the shortest of time using Shopify. It includes eleven modules, with five of them being almost entirely dedicated to Facebook Ads (kind of overkill, I believe). The rest is relatively necessary information on starting your own Shopify dropshipping business.
Who is Tremayne Turner?
Tremayne Turner is another self-proclaimed YouTube “entrepreneur” who produces videos about digital marketing, dropshipping, and general motivational topics. He claims to have thousands of successful students, which is kind of hard to believe considering his private Facebook group only has about 100 members, and his YouTube barely surpasses 5000 subscribers, despite his very click bait sounding titles. All of the “evidence” of his success also seems kind of… off? Almost as if he edited the screenshots to appear more successful than he is. But who are we to judge?
Who is Freedom With eCom For?
Freedom with eCom is for aspiring entrepreneurs that want to achieve financial independence by means of dropshipping. The course is definitely aimed at beginners and barely touches on any advanced topics.
What is included in Freedom With eCom?
Throughout its 11 modules, Turner’s course focuses mainly on building your store, researching your product, and increasing your average order value. He also gives some Facebook and Email Marketing tips. These contents are pretty much the standard for any drop-shipping course, so let us have a closer look at the modules to see what exactly it entails.
Module 1 – Welcome to the Course
The first module is a classic intro module. It introduces the course and what you are to gain from following the steps outlined in it. He also includes a lesson on how to structure your day and how to choose between a general store and a brand.
Module 2 – Building your Dream Store
This module consists of a total of 18 videos in which Turner teaches you how to set up your store on the Shopify platform from scratch. I can tell you upfront, most of the information found in this module is relatively basic and readily available on the internet for free. Some of it is even explained on Shopify itself. Here is the exact list of what this module contains:
- Deciding on a name for your store
- Store Setup
- Buying a domain
- Picking and setting up a theme
- Required pages on your store
- Creating collections and pages
- Importing products and fulfilling orders
- Creating a landing page that converts
- The perfect pricing strategy
- Recommended apps
- Payment providers
- Conversion Tips
- Removing the “Powered by Shopify” Branding
If you have ever actually built your own Shopify store, the whole process of it is incredibly intuitive. I am not sure why Turner felt the need to include 18 videos for this relatively necessary process.
While some of the lessons like the app recommendations and conversion tips are quite useful for beginners, even this information can be found for free on YouTube. Other videos in this module, i.e., buying a domain and removing the shoplift branding, really do not deserve their videos. What also strikes me as weird is that Turner recommends you use a free theme, which is usually horrible for creating conversions.
Module 3 – Product Research
The third module consists of 10 videos and aims to teach you all about finding a “winning” product. It does include some helpful tips about spying on your competitors, using AliExpress, and how to find high selling products on Facebook. Still, it also completely ignores a lot of other viable strategies. Considering that your product is about the most critical factor for deciding your success on Shopify, I would have hoped he would go into more detail and mention other product research platforms like Google or Oberlo.
Module 4 – The Art of Increasing your AOV (Average Order Value)
If you are familiar with the world of dropshipping (or business in general), you know what the average order value is and how important it is in creating a successful business. So, again, quite an essential topic.
This does not reflect in the module, however. It is one of the shortest of the course and primarily only teaches you the basics of upselling, one-click upsells, and free upsell strategies. It also briefly touches on creating customer loyalty by showing you how to turn your customers into “fans.”
Module 5 – Intro to Facebook
If you have ever even briefly worked with Facebook Ads before, skip this module (and probably the next four as well). It is a fundamental intro lesson on how to use Facebook Ads. Turner explains the Facebook Business Manager, the Facebook Pixel, and what an Ad Account is.
In the following videos, Turner also touches on campaign objectives and ad-sets and -copies. Again, this module includes very basic knowledge that can be found for free on the internet without much hassle.
Module 6 – Targeting with Facebook
The second of Turner’s three modules about Facebook Ads. This one explains how important targeting the right people is (duh) and how to understand what people want by analyzing Google Trends.
I feel like a lot was lacking here. Facebook offers an insane range of targeting options, more than any other online advertising platform (even google), and there is undoubtedly much more to be learned than mentioned in this module. Turner barely says any of these and completely ignores other essential parts, such as splitting your audience, too. Overall, a very disappointing module.
Module 7 – Testing with Facebook
At this point, you are probably starting to wonder… is this a Facebook advertising course? Well, no, because that would include a lot more detail on pretty much everything. In the third module about Facebook Ads, Turner talks about writing ad copies and launching them.
A positive here is the focus on video ads and how to create one effectively, something you should consider as the video is the most consumed medium anywhere on the internet. But, again, the information provided here is quite ordinary and nothing special.
Turner does give an excellent example of his testing strategy, which can be quite useful.
Module 8 – Scaling to the moon
Yes, you guessed it. Another module about Facebook Ads. This time, Turner talks all about scaling an ad once it shows early signs of success. He seems to have some weird fascination with scaling ads “to the moon,” which is a phrase that he keeps mentioning over and over again.
The scaling methods mentioned in this module are quite useful, however. Plus, you get a short introduction into the world of manual bidding.
Module 9 – Retargeting is key
I promise you, and this is the last module about Facebook Ads! It deals with retargeting, one of the essential mechanisms of Facebook Ads. Despite its importance, Turner only dedicates two videos to the topic… kind of strange if you ask me.
The first video explains what retargeting is, which you could probably do in one short sentence. The second one talks about dynamic product ads, which essentially means using variables in your ad to make it match the search queries of your potential customer.
Module 10 – Email Marketing
Another incredible short module about something you should know a whole lot more about. Three videos are not enough for this topic, in my opinion.
All you get here is a brief introduction to the world of email marketing. It teaches you how to set up sequences and how to use Mailchimp, which in itself is very easy and intuitive to use.
Module 11 – The Next Level
The final module of Turner’s course is all about outsourcing and the importance of customer service. He seems to have rushed these videos a lot, which is weird considering the significance of the topic.
Turner teaches you about virtual assistants and setting up staff accounts to allow other people to manage your store.
Freedom With eCom Final Verdict
While its price tag of $297 seems reasonable, the content of the course simply lacks. The information provided in the course is not very detailed, and most of it can be found for free (and in much more detail) on YouTube or other platforms.
Furthermore, 5 of the 11 modules are on Facebook Ads, which is just plain weird for a “dropshipping” course, especially considering he never as much as mentions other marketing channels such as Instagram, Google, Chatbots, or SEO.
Freedom with eCom Alternative
I have gone through a lot of these dropshipping guru courses and personally, a lot of them are overpriced courses with very little information. They always try to sell you the dream or the lifestyle rather than actually selling you information. Dropshipping is not an overnight get rich quick scheme but, a lot of these gurus make it out like that. That’s why they ask for ridiculous prices for their courses. So, I personally get why you’d not trust in these courses.
Now, I still recommend a course if your either beginner or intermediate at dropshipping because it can save you a lot of money by optimizing ads and saving you lots of time. My personal favorite and favorite among many others is a course called eCom Elites by Franklin Hatchett. Now, the reason why I love this course because it’s one of the most affordable dropshipping courses out there and it has literally over 150+ videos. Franklin’s been doing dropshipping for many many years even before it was made famous by a lot of the gurus.
Make sure you read my eCom Elites Review to see how much information Franklin packed in this course and offers it at such a low price.
